Many developers offer players small mini-games as part of the main game. Sometimes, so that the player can distract from the key plot or tense gameplay, sometimes to enrich and diversify the game experience. They are not always obligatory, but sometimes at least one appeal to a mini-game in the format of a mandatory quest is required to get acquainted.
The mini-games are different, among the whole variety I was once fascinated by fishing in Final Fantasy XV, which was very different from fishing in Nier: Automata (which I played earlier). Playing now at Nier Replicant, I was also offered fishing, which, unlike these games, also has its own specifics.
So, fishing in Nier games: Automata, Final Fantasy XV and Nier Replicant – a small review.
Fishing in Nier: Automata
Fishing in Nier: Automata is available at the start of the game and every active character can fish (2b, 9s, A2). This is an optional mini-game, but it gives a certain benefit.
Firstly, fishing is a source of currency: by selling caught fish and caught items, you can get a game currency.
Secondly, only with the help of fishing you can get unique items in the game-this is a small sword “Iron Pipe Small” (“Iron Pipe”) and POD B.

Unlike Final Fantasy XV and Nier Replicant at Nier: Automata there is no classic fishing rod that must be thrown into water. Pod is sent to the water. With one button, the hero gives the POD’U command to plunge into the water and the same button command to exit the water. That is, there is no need to wrap the fishing line when the bite goes. Everything happens automatically by pressing one button. Since everything is so simple, pumping the hero’s ability to fishing, as in other games, is not required.
How to understand what pecks?

Thirdly, fish can be sold as part of the dish (if you have all the necessary ingredients) and get a game currency for this (although very little).
How to fish?
The player can fish for any size in reservoirs using various fishing rods and bait. Sometimes you can buy all the necessary devices in stores located next to fishing points.
In places where fishing is available, a special icon appears. Having activated the mini-game, the hero has a fishing rod and menu with hints. Through the menu, you can choose a specific fishing rod, fishing line and bait, you can see records and so on.

As in Final Fantasy XV, Nier Replicant developers offer fishing mechanics with a fishing rod. However, the game has its own nuances.
Approaching the water, as usual, a hint of fishing appears. By choosing a bait, you can throw a fishing rod. Before you peck, the fish will pull the fishing line a couple of times. When a red float disappears under water, then you can pull a fishing rod.
Unlike Final Fantasy XV, there are no tips in the game. The main rule is to pull the fishing rod back and in the direction of the opposite direction of the fish, therefore, if the fish pulls to the left, you need to pull the fishing rod back and right.

Personally, the fishing in Nier Replicant seemed to me a less controlled process than in Final Fantasy XV. At the very beginning, to catch the fish, you have to spend a lot of time. Moreover, the fish often breaks down, although you do everything right. In addition, often instead of fish many times in a row can be pulled out all garbage, while the bait is also spent.
Based on the previous experience, you expect a light, relaxing mini-game, but it turns out a tense, long process that does not always enjoy.
For example, in order to catch only 3 fisheries on a quest in the sands, I had to spend about 40 minutes: either a bucket on a hook, then a tin can, then fell off, then something else, although this is already the 6th quest and a certain level of pumping was reached.
In the 8th part of the Fisherman Gambit series, only two blue Marlin is needed, spending a considerable time and a large number of attempts, I did not achieve any results and quit this lesson.
